Ch Somerlaren Ima Legend (AI).
Legend was bred under the Somerlaren prefix. The Somerlaren breeding prefix that is co-owned with Laine Knox of Ashlaren Weimaraners and Jim and Danny at Somerford Weimaraners. Both Kennels take a turn to breed a litter under this prefix each alternate year. Legend came from the litter that we bred in Sept 2007 by Somerford in Newcastle. Legend is the male dog that we currently campaign in the show ring. Legend thinks he knows everything that there is to know about girls. I can tell you however that he still likes to sleep with his favourite squeaky toy and he has a habit of leaving them all over the house....and he loves the surf. That aside Legend is a delight to own. He is the most affectionate, happy, playful, mischievous (in a nice way) dog we have ever bred. He also has a genuine desire to learn and help you with any task and he is very intelligent. He is the happiest dog that we have ever had and I hope that when the time really comes to sow his wild oats that he passes these traits onto his progeny. A friend of ours who trains his Weimaraners in the field came to assess Legend's potential to work in the field and he came up with a big tick in that department. He has an excellent nose and is very responsive to commands. He is so smart that he even dug up my fruit trees 1 week after they were planted. He decided that it would be a good experiment to see if the roots had grown during the course of the week. He was also very happy to stay by my side while I planted them all again. I explained to him that in the middle of winter when the trees are dormant that this is the time when we plant them and that it takes just a little longer than 1 week for them to shoot new roots. He has promised to wait a little longer this time before he digs them up again. We will wait and see, mean while I remain vigilant to ensure that they stay in the ground long enough to establish a good foothold so that a certain young adolescent dog can't excavate them from the soil. In his first 9 months of life Legend was shown sparingly in the conformation ring mainly due to our business commitments and busy lifestyle, he has been awarded a Best Baby Puppy in the Gundog Group and more recently Best Junior in Gundog Group and 7 Runner-up Best in Groups, a Best in Group and he has been awarded Best of Breed many times, several reserve challenges against older more mature dogs. He Attained his title of Australian Champion at 14 months old by winning RUBIG at the Uralla All Breeds show in NSW. He was born in September 2007 to 'Holly' - Ashlaren Xtra Special and 'Oska' Aust Ch, European Ch, Fin Ch, Lux Ch, Baltic Ch Ashlaren Caipiroska. 'Oska' his dad is probably one of Australia's most awarded weimaraners. He lived in Poland for over 2 years and he is multi titled with European Championships. He competed and was placed in the 2008 at World Dog Show in Sweden. 'Oska' returned to Australia late in 2008 and now resides at Ashlaren on the edge of the Southern Highlands. In 2010 Shannon Barden joined our team and he will be presenting Legend for most of 1010. Shannon has already developed a special relationship with Legend and it is always a pleasure to see them working so closely together as a team in the show ring.
